Cheney's Loyalty Oaths
In the hopes that my family will actually read this, here is a link to an article about the loyalty oaths that Cheney made reporters sign in order to be admitted to a press conference he had in Wyoming before the election last year. I would also encourage you to read the entry below, titled "Pentagon Spying on Anti-War Groups" from December 16th. I encourage any comments you might have.

"The measure was a security step designed to avoid a disruption, which Bush campaign spokesman Dan Foley alleged Democrats were planning."
According to this exerpt taken from the link, this requirement was not for reporters, but for supporters.

If it was a measure to avoid disruption, why not make them sign an oath that they will not be a disruption? If they did that, it would provide a legal basis to sue anyone who did cause a disruption. In the form it was used, the Loyalty Oath provided no such basis, and it seems clear to me that it was nothing more than yet another attempt to stifle criticism from an administration with a very long history of similar acts.
